Why Does Kiki Ravenscroft Say the Same Good Morning to Four Million People?
Every day at 6:40 a.m. she says one sentence to her whole audience. We asked what happens when someone says it back.

At 6:40 a.m. Kiki Ravenscroft holds her phone at arm's length in a kitchen in Silver Lake and says, "Hi, you. Okay. Let's go." Four million people get exactly that. She has done it every morning since March.
I asked what happens when one of them answers. She laughed for a while. Then she said she reads the first nine replies, hearts eight, and answers none.
Why nine? "Ten felt like a job."
It is an honest answer, which is rarer than a warm one. But a hello that cannot be answered is a recording with good lighting.
Tomorrow at 6:40 the hello will be identical. So will the nine.
