“The boots are by the door,” says wrestler Tsogt-Erdene Bold
Ten years without a match, four centimetres of first snow in Ulan Bator, and a man who says he is ready.

Snow came to Ulan Bator overnight. Four centimetres, enough to cover the car roofs and not the kerbs.
On a third-floor landing, a pair of leather boots with curled toes stands by a door. The soles are dry. The leather was oiled this week, and the rag is still on the radiator.
Tsogt-Erdene Bold has not wrestled a match in ten years. He says he is ready the way other people give a bus time. Asked for whom, he looks at the boots.
Nobody has called. He does not bring it up.
The neighbour below says he oils them every Sunday. She has started setting her kettle by it.
