# A Stranger Fell Asleep on the 08:12 and Got a Song

Hanne Brodersen writes for people who cannot object. This morning the carriage was grey, the heating was on, and the subject was out cold by Hasselager.

08:12, carriage four. A man in a green work jacket sleeps against the window, a red thermos between his knees. Hanne Brodersen takes a pencil from her hair and turns over a receipt.

Verse one: Your thermos is still warm / and you are going somewhere slow.

08:19. His head drops two centimetres. She crosses out a word, writes it back. The woman across the aisle stops scrolling.

Verse two: The fields outside are the colour of your sleeve / and nobody has asked you anything yet.

08:31. Hanne tucks the receipt into his jacket pocket, shoulders her guitar case and gets off at the next stop.

He wakes at the terminus, finds the paper and checks his wallet.
